Old Shop Cottage is an extremely charming and quirky cottage. Originally built as the village bakery, this cottage now sleeps up to 6 guests featuring 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Whether you are looking for a family holiday or a romantic escape, Old Shop Cottage is the perfect destination for picturesque coastal views, various outdoor activities, and historical adventures across the South Hams. Located in the centre of Bantham village, only a short walk to the golden sandy beach, the local shop and café or the traditional long-standing pub; The Sloop Inn, this coastal cottage is a great pet friendly self-catering rental.

Old Shop Cottage has two points, the wooden barn door accesses the lovely, enclosed patio garden. With high fences and a bolt-closed gate, the patio garden is perfect for children and dogs to wander without accessing the road. The main entrance through the left house door leads into the bright and spacious lounge area. With comfy sofas, quirky window seats, a log-burning fireplace, TV and free Wifi Internet, this cosy room is perfect for relaxation. Tucked away behind the lounge, a powder room and utility with a washing machine and tumble drier can be found.

From the lounge, down a step you are met with the open plan kitchen and dining room. This traditional yet modern décor social hub of the house boasts great space with lovely window seats in the kitchen. The kitchen is fitted with a comprehensive range of wall and base units and integrated appliances inclusive of a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, oven and hob, microwave, kettle, and toaster. The dining table comfortably hosts 6 with two additional seats and a baby highchair. This space is perfect for a family gathering, cooking up a storm while watching the dining room TV for entertainment or utilising one of the two armchairs, catching up on the plethora of books found on the bookshelf upstairs.

Leading upstairs via the slightly spiralled steep staircase, the accommodation is found. The first bedroom is a cosy with two single beds offering a drawer for storage space and a quiet corner alcove inclusive of a reading armchair and lamp.

Diagonally across from bedroom one, the shower room is located. The fully refurbished bathroom boasts a bright and light room inclusive of a toilet, washbasin with a draw unit and a large walk-in shower.

Bedroom two is a brightly lit minimalistic décor bedroom, offering interchangeable accommodation as two singles or one super king dependent on guest requirements. Wall spotlights are the perfect feature for late night reading or storytelling on the wicker chair. A tall drawer has a double aspect function as storage and a bedside table.

The second bathroom is reached up a couple of steps on the landing. This bathroom is unusually shaped with brightly painted walls and a beach theme inclusive of a bath and overhead hand shower, toilet, and washbasin.

The final bedroom is an elegantly spacious master bedroom found at the end of the landing.  A large window with a partial view of the gorgeous tidal River Avon complements the super comfy, super-king size bed. Storage space is inclusive of beside table units and a tall drawer, which homes the monitor size TV.

Old Shop Cottage has many traditional features and steps throughout the property; thus, we would not recommend this cottage to anyone with mobility impairments. Old Shop Cottage does not include its own dedicated parking, however in off peak season parking can be found on the road outside and in peak season parking is available in the beach car park 150 metres down the road.
